Baroness

Baroness is an American heavy metal band from Savannah, Georgia. Formed in 2003, the band consists of singer and guitarist John Baizley, drummer Sebastian Thomson, bassist Nick Jost, and guitarist Gina Gleason. Baroness has released five studio albums, the most recent of which, Gold & Grey, was released in 2019.

The band's first two albums, Red Album and Blue Record, are considered two of their standout albums. Red Album was released in 2007 and features the single “The Birthing”, which is considered to be one of their most popular songs. Blue Record was released in 2009 and includes the single “A Horse Called Golgotha”, which is another fan favorite.

In 2015, Baroness released their third studio album, Purple. The album was well-received and featured the singles “Shock Me” and “Chlorine & Wine”. In 2017, the band released their fourth album, Yellow & Green, which included the singles “March to the Sea” and “Take My Bones Away”.

An interesting fact about Baroness is that the band is named after the lead singer and guitarist's grandmother, Baroness Erika von Baizley. The band has also been known to incorporate artwork and lyrics related to her life and her family's history into their music.
