De La Soul Vinyl Records

De La Soul is an iconic hip-hop group from Long Island, New York, formed in 1987 by three members: Posdnous, Trugoy and Maseo. They have been credited with pioneering the jazz-rap genre, and for introducing eclectic sampling and quirky, off-beat lyrics to hip-hop music. Their debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, was released in 1989 and received universal acclaim. The album contained the group's most successful single, "Me, Myself and I", which peaked at number one on the Hot Rap Singles chart. Their next two albums, De La Soul Is Dead and Buhloone Mindstate, are considered by critics to be two of the group's most influential works, with Buhloone Mindstate being particularly praised for its social commentary and politically charged lyrics. Their fourth album, Stakes Is High, was released in 1996 and is considered one of the group's best works. It featured the singles "The Bizness" and "Itzsoweezee (HOT)". De La Soul has also released several other albums and mixtapes, including Art Official Intelligence, The Grind Date, and the Grammy-nominated And the Anonymous Nobody. An interesting fact about De La Soul is that they are the first hip-hop group to receive a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance, for their song "Let, Let Me In".
