Donna Fargo is an American country music singer-songwriter and comedian, best known for a series of Top 10 country hits in the 1970s. Born in Mount Airy, North Carolina, she began her career in 1966, performing at small clubs in the area. Her career took off in 1972 with the release of her single "The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA". The song became a hit, topping the Billboard Country Singles chart and peaking at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Fargo went on to release a series of successful albums throughout the 1970s, including her breakthrough album, My Second Album (1972), which spawned her signature song, "The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA" as well as other hits such as "Funny Face", "You Can't Be a Beacon (If Your Light Don't Shine)", and "It Do Feel Good". She also released two Christmas albums, Donna Fargo Sings Christmas (1973) and Snowbird (1974).

In 1976, Fargo released the album Miss Donna Fargo, which featured the hit singles "U.S. of A." and "Superman", both of which reached the top of the country charts. She followed this success with her 1977 album All About a Feeling, which spawned the hits "You Can't Be a Beacon (If Your Light Don't Shine)" and "It Do Feel Good".

An interesting fact about Donna Fargo is that she was the first female artist in history to win the Country Music Association's award for "Most Promising Female Vocalist of the Year".
