Jerry Butler

Jerry Butler, born Jerry Butler Jr., is an American soul singer and songwriter. He started out as part of the R&B group The Impressions in the late 1950s and early 1960s, but left the group in 1960 to pursue a solo career. He became known as "The Iceman" for his cool, soulful vocals.

His standout albums include The Iceman Cometh (1959), He Will Break Your Heart (1960), and The Soul Goes On (1970). His most popular singles include "For Your Precious Love" (1958), "He Will Break Your Heart" (1960), "I Stand Accused" (1964), "Never Gonna Give You Up" (1969), and "Ain't Understanding Mellow" (1972).

An interesting fact about Jerry Butler is that he is the cousin of the late soul singer Curtis Mayfield, who was also a member of The Impressions.
