Julie Covington is an English singer and actress. She is best known for her 1976 hit single "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" from the musical Evita.

Her career began in the 1960s, when she was a member of the folk group The Settlers, who had several hits including "The Lord of the Dance". She then went on to star in the original London production of the musical Godspell and the film version in 1973.

Covington's debut solo album was the critically acclaimed album Making a Good Thing Better, released in 1975. Her other albums include Julie Covington (1976), No Stranger (1978), and The Best of Julie Covington (1981).

Some of her most popular songs include "Don't Cry for Me Argentina", "Only Women Bleed", "Black Coffee", "Every Little Move She Makes", "Walk Away Renee", and "Visions".

An interesting fact about Julie Covington is that she was the first singer to record the song "Don't Cry for Me Argentina", which later became a hit for Madonna in 1996.
