Kevin Coyne is a British singer-songwriter and musician, best known for his innovative solo albums and his collaborations with artists such as Robert Wyatt, Jon Langford, and Robert Fripp. Born in Derby, England, in 1944, Coyne began playing music as a teenager, performing in local folk clubs before forming his first band, Siren, in 1969. His first solo album, Case History, was released in 1971, and he went on to record dozens of albums over the next four decades, ranging from folk and blues to rock and jazz.

Some of his standout albums include Case History (1971), Marjory Razorblade (1973), Heartburn (1976), Millionaires and Teddy Bears (1981), Blame it on the Night (1986), and Babble (1996). Notable songs include “Eastbourne Ladies” (from Case History), “Dreams of a Gypsy” (from Marjory Razorblade), and “Burning Head” (from Blame it on the Night).

An interesting fact about Coyne is that he was an avid painter and sculptor, often selling his art to fund his musical projects. He also wrote several books of poetry and short stories, as well as a full-length novel.
