Sixto Rodriguez

Sixto Rodriguez is an American folk singer-songwriter and musician from Detroit, Michigan. He was active during the 1970s and released two studio albums, Cold Fact and Coming from Reality. His songs often contain social and political themes and have been sampled by many hip-hop artists.

Rodriguez's debut album, Cold Fact, was released in 1970. The album featured soulful, acoustic-based compositions and earned critical acclaim. It featured two of his most popular songs, "Sugar Man" and "I Wonder". His follow-up album, Coming from Reality, was released in 1971. It featured a more diverse range of styles, including blues, funk and reggae, as well as socially conscious lyrics.

An interesting fact about Rodriguez is that he has enjoyed greater success in South Africa than in his native United States. His albums have been widely popular there since the 1970s, but it wasn't until 2012 that he gained recognition in the U.S. He has since toured extensively and released a live album, Live Fact.
