Sky is a British progressive rock band that formed in 1978. The original lineup consisted of John Williams (guitar, keyboards), Herbie Flowers (bass), Tristan Fry (drums), Francis Monkman (keyboards), and Kevin Peek (guitar).

Sky's debut album, Sky, was released in 1979 and reached No. 1 in the UK Albums Chart. The album featured the band's biggest hit, "Toccata", which peaked at No. 9 in the UK Singles Chart. Sky also had success with their follow-up albums, Sky 2 (1980) and Sky 3 (1982). Sky 2 featured the singles "Cannonball" and "Hotta", while Sky 3 contained the hit "Moser".

Sky's fourth album, Cadmium (1983), was their most commercially successful album, featuring the singles "The same Dream" and "Where Opposites Meet". Their fifth album, The Great Balloon Race (1984), also reached the UK top 40.

Sky's standout songs include "Toccata", "Cannonball", "Moser", "The Same Dream", and "Where Opposites Meet".

An interesting fact about Sky is that in 1979, the band performed a version of Johann Sebastian Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" on the British television show Top of the Pops. The performance was the first time a classical piece had ever been performed on the show.
