The Academy Of Ancient Music

The Academy of Ancient Music is an English early music ensemble founded by harpsichordist Christopher Hogwood in 1973. The ensemble is based in Cambridge and performs baroque and classical music on period instruments. The group has released numerous recordings and has toured around the world.

Notable albums by the Academy of Ancient Music include their 1981 Handel: Water Music, 1988 Bach: Brandenburg Concertos, and 1992 Mozart: Symphonies Nos. 40 & 41. Notable songs include Handel's Water Music Suite, Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, and Mozart's Symphony No. 40.

An interesting fact about the Academy of Ancient Music is that it was the first ensemble to perform symphonies by Mozart on period instruments.
