The Dynamic Hepnotics

The Dynamic Hepnotics were an Australian soul and funk band formed in Sydney in 1979. The band was led by keyboardist/vocalist Doug Parkinson and featured a rotating line-up of members, including guitarists Peter Luscombe and Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum, bassist Ivan ‘Virgil’ Gray and drummer Stephen ‘Dr.’ Foster.

The band released their debut album, Soul Kind of Feeling, in 1981 and had several hit singles, including "Soul Kind of Feeling", "Never Gonna Stop" and "Gonna Have a Good Time". They released two more albums, Motor City Movement in 1984 and The Beat Goes On in 1986.

Their most successful album was Soul Kind of Feeling, which peaked at number 4 on the Australian ARIA album chart. It included their biggest hit single, "Soul Kind of Feeling", which reached number 6 on the ARIA singles chart. The album also featured the songs "Never Gonna Stop" and "Gonna Have a Good Time", both of which were top 20 hits in Australia.

The band toured extensively throughout Australia and Europe and were the support act for numerous international acts, including The Doobie Brothers, The Pointer Sisters and The Kinks.

An interesting fact about The Dynamic Hepnotics is that their song "Never Gonna Stop" was featured in the opening sequence of the 1983 Australian film The Man From Snowy River.
