The Ritchie Family

The Ritchie Family was an American vocal group, formed in 1972 and active until the early 1980s. The original lineup consisted of Cheryl Mason, Cassandra Wooten, Gwendolyn Oliver and Jean Davis.

The Ritchie Family is best known for their hits "The Best Disco in Town" (1976) and "Give Me a Break" (1977). They released six albums from 1976 to 1983 and scored a number of hits on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. Their standout albums include their self-titled debut album (1976), Brazilian Love Song (1977), Arabian Nights (1979) and I'll Do My Best (1983).

Some of their most popular songs include "The Best Disco in Town", "Give Me a Break", "Put Your Feet to the Beat", "Take Me to the Disco", "Arabian Nights", "I'll Do My Best (For You Baby)", and "American Generation".

An interesting fact about The Ritchie Family is that they are considered to be one of the first disco groups. They released the first disco-style record with the track "The Best Disco in Town" in 1976, and the track helped to define the emerging disco sound.
