The Saints

The Saints are an Australian punk rock band formed in Brisbane in 1974 by Chris Bailey, Ed Kuepper, and Ivor Hay. They were among the first punk bands in Australia and their first single "(I'm) Stranded" was released in September 1976. It reached number 4 on the Australian charts and is now considered a classic of the genre.

The band's early albums, such as (I'm) Stranded (1977) and Eternally Yours (1978) featured a raw and aggressive sound and established them as one of the key acts of the punk era. Their sound developed over time and in later albums such as Prehistoric Sounds (1988) and All Fools Day (1986) they incorporated elements of rockabilly, blues, and country.

Some of the band's standout songs include "This Perfect Day" from (I'm) Stranded, "Know Your Product" from Eternally Yours, and "Just Like Fire Would" from All Fools Day.

An interesting fact about The Saints is that they were the first Australian punk band to be signed to a major label. They were also the first to tour Europe and the United States.
