Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Mississippi, Green began his music career in the 1960s and has since released numerous albums and singles, earning numerous awards and honors, including seven Grammy Awards and a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Green's most successful and acclaimed albums are "Call Me" (1973), "Let's Stay Together" (1972), and "I'm Still In Love With You" (1972). These albums spawned classic singles such as "Let's Stay Together", "Tired of Being Alone", "Love and Happiness", and "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)".
