Cole would have become one of the great artists of the German rap scene if the Frankfurt native hadn't already moved to the USA at the age of eight months, where he grew up in the federal state of North Carolina. The move didn't harm him, because now he has become one of the great artists of the American rap scene. His third album '2014 Forest Hills Drive' will be released on 12 December
    Jermaine, his real name, began rapping at the age of thirteen, when he discovered his talent and love for telling stories with his lyrics. His role models at that time were mainly Tupac Shakur, Nas, Eminem and Jay-Z. To get in touch with the latter and play him a beat, he waited once for hours in front of Jay-Z's office building. The meeting didn't take place then - but today J. Cole is the first rapper under Jay-Z's label Roc Nation.
