  • The story of Judee Sill is one of rock's more interesting yet little known stories. Because of her troubled family history, she was looking for an escape from reality. After surviving a heroin addiction and a brief stint as a bank robber, Sill focused her intense passions on music. She released two albums and partially completed a third until her death in 1979

Sill's music was intricate, elegant, yet completely unpretentious and non-melodramatic. Unjustifiably, she was often pigeonholed with other female contemporary songwriters like Joni Mitchell or Carole King, although Sill felt much closer to Brian Wilson, Nick Drake, or her idol JS Bach. She had the talent to make very complicated things sound simple and beautiful. Judee Sill's second album was to be her last.
