"Howlin 'Wolf" is the third album from the Chicago blues singer / guitarist / harmonica player. It is a compilation of six singles originally released on the Chess label between 1960 to 1962. Because of the picture on the cover, the album is often referred to as "The Rockin 'Chair Album", which became the title after further pressings. The album had some influence on other musicians - in 1966, Koko Taylor recorded a cover version of "Wang Dang Doodle" which reached # 4 on the Billboard R&B chart and became a minor hit. In 1963, Sam Cooke released the single "Little Red Rooster" and it reached # 7 on the R&B charts; # 11 on the Hot 100. In 1969, the lyrics of "Shake For Me" and "Back Door Man" were recycled into the Led Zeppelin song "Whole Lotta Love".
