  • When David Lindley started his solo career with "El Rayo-X" in 1981, his good name as a studio musician was already on everyone's lips on many stages. His sovereign playing, which he had cultivated with Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt and Crosby & Nash before, is bundled on this album like a penetrating X-ray beam. And even more: Even the early faded attempts on the banjo and the fiddle cultivate the instrumental multi to complex play into the strings of the Steel-Guitar.

A few examples of the many styles that flow together in the collected pieces: The twitching reggae rhythm ("She Took Of My Romeos") is followed by "Bye, Bye Love", one of the great guitar hits of the 80s, which is followed by the Mercury Blues, which is pointed at grandiose guitar playing and is both tempo-loaded and fast.

Like the rhythmic mix, the instrumentation obeys a sophisticated plan and is tailor-made for each piece. "Quarter Of A Man", a subtle, colorful dance around the bass line, impresses just as much as the sharp bumps of the established rock organ in "Ain't No Way". All in all a lavishly produced rock album of its time.

This Speakers Corner production was made using analog master tape and 100% pure analog mastering. More information at www. pure-analogue. com All licenses and GEMA contributions were paid.

    Reviews

    "Top-quality reissue." (Audio, April 2019)

"Is he leaving a job at the Mercury Blues' once the rocky rags fly, he shuffles in the following 'Quarter Of A Man' in the reggae groove, when jamaica would be on our doorstep. Even a few Mood guns like "Bye, Bye Love or 'Twist And Shout' he fires with a lot of Print it. Speaker's Corner has a whole "and an excellent reissue." (Good Times, April / May 2019)

"The Speakers Corner Re-Issue from the original analog master tape sounds excellent and proves to be crack and noise free." (Stereo, May 2019)
