Divinyls Vinyl Records

Divinyls were an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1980. The band's core members were vocalist Christina Amphlett and guitarist Mark McEntee. They were known for their raucous and dynamic live performances and their songs explored themes of love, sexual liberation and empowerment.

Their first album, Desperate, was released in 1981 and was followed by Temperamental (1982), What a Life (1985) and Divinyls (1991). They achieved their greatest commercial success with their 1992 album, Divinyls, which spawned the hit singles "I Touch Myself", "Pleasure and Pain" and "Science Fiction".

The band's most successful single, "I Touch Myself", reached number four on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified double platinum in Australia. The song was also nominated for two Grammy Awards in 1991.

Divinyls were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2006 and in 2021, the band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

An interesting fact about Divinyls is that the band's lead singer, Christina Amphlett, was the first Australian female artist to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
