Emerson, Lake & Palmer, or ELP, were an English progressive rock band, formed in London in 1970. The band consisted of keyboardist Keith Emerson, vocalist and bassist Greg Lake, and drummer and percussionist Carl Palmer.

ELP's debut album, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, released in 1970, was a critical and commercial success and established the band's genre of progressive rock. The album's standout tracks included "Take a Pebble," "Lucky Man," and "Knife Edge." ELP's second album, Tarkus (1971), also received positive reviews and featured the band's signature 20-minute title track. Other notable albums include Trilogy (1972), Brain Salad Surgery (1973), and Welcome Back My Friends to the Show That Never Ends - Ladies and Gentlemen (1974).

Some of the band's best-known songs include "Lucky Man," "From the Beginning," "Karn Evil 9," and "Fanfare for the Common Man."

An interesting fact about ELP is that Keith Emerson was the first rock musician to successfully incorporate a Moog synthesizer into a live show, beginning with the song "Tarkus" on their 1971 tour.
