Free Improvisation
Free Improvisation is a form of music that is characterized by its lack of pre-determined structure or form. It is a spontaneous, often chaotic form of music making that is based around improvisation and exploration of sound. Free Improvisation has its roots in jazz and avant-garde music of the 1960s and 70s, with some of its key figures being jazz musicians like Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, and Cecil Taylor. Free Improvisation has since evolved to encompass a variety of musical styles and genres, including experimental rock, noise, and electronica.
