Gypsy Jazz

Gypsy Jazz, also known as Gypsy Swing, is a style of jazz music that originated in France in the 1930s. It is characterized by fast tempos, virtuosic technique, and improvisation based on the 'manouche' style of the Romani people of Eastern Europe. The music is often based on the “Gypsy chord”, a four-note chord consisting of the tonic, the flattened sixth, the flat seventh, and the ninth. The style was popularized by Django Reinhardt, a Belgian guitarist and composer, who blended the manouche style with jazz. Gypsy Jazz has since become a popular genre, with many modern performers adapting the style to their own playing.
