Hi Nrg

Hi NRG (also known as Hi-NRG, Hi Energy, High Energy, and Hi-Energy) is a genre of uptempo disco or electronic dance music that originated in the United States in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It is characterized by a fast tempo (usually 140-150 beats per minute), synthesizer riffs, and vocal chants. It was popularized by DJs such as Sylvester and Patrick Cowley, as well as the group Divine. Hi NRG music was especially popular in gay clubs, and many of the most popular Hi NRG songs were released by artists from the LGBT community. Today, Hi NRG is still a popular genre of electronic music, with many modern EDM producers drawing inspiration from its style.
