Iain Matthews is an English folk-rock singer and songwriter who began his career in the late 1960s as a founding member of the band Fairport Convention. He left the band in 1969 and went on to form the band Matthews Southern Comfort, which was most famous for its 1970 hit single, "Woodstock". Matthews went on to release a number of solo albums, including Valley Hi (1973), Stealin' Home (1976) and Go for Broke (1981).

Some of his standout albums include Some Days You Eat the Bear (1973), If You Saw Thro' My Eyes (1975) and Tiger in the Rain (1979). His most famous songs include "Woodstock", "Jigsaw Puzzle", "Shake It", "Tiger in the Rain", "Take the Long Way Home" and "Shady Lies".

An interesting fact about Iain Matthews is that he has collaborated with some of the most iconic figures in folk and rock music, including Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison and Linda Ronstadt.
