Journey is an American rock band that was formed in 1973 in San Francisco, California. The original lineup included Steve Perry (vocals), Neal Schon (guitar), Gregg Rolie (keyboards, vocals), Ross Valory (bass) and Aynsley Dunbar (drums).

The band's first two albums, 1975's Journey and 1976's Look into the Future, received mixed reviews, but the band soon gained a following with their third album, 1977's Next. This album featured their first hit single, "Wheel in the Sky," and was followed by the hit album Infinity in 1978.

The band's commercial breakthrough came with their 1981 album Escape, which featured the hit singles "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Open Arms." The album went to #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was eventually certified nine times platinum. It remains one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Other standout albums by Journey include 1983's Frontiers, which spawned the hit singles "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" and "Faithfully," and 1986's Raised on Radio, which featured the hit single "Be Good to Yourself."

Journey is one of the best-selling American rock bands of all time, with over 75 million albums sold worldwide. In 2017, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

An interesting fact about Journey is that their iconic frontman Steve Perry did not perform with the band for over 20 years, from 1998 to 2018. In 2018, he reunited with the band for a performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
