Monolog

Monolog is an experimental electronic music style that emerged in the mid-1990s. It is characterized by repetitive, minimalistic patterns, heavy basslines, and use of sampled and synthesized sounds. It is heavily influenced by the early Detroit techno and Chicago acid house sounds of the 1980s, and draws influence from a variety of other genres such as ambient, industrial, and electro. Monolog has been described as “a highly individualistic take on techno and electronica”. The style was popularized by the late 1990s German record label Mille Plateaux, who released many Monolog-related albums in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
