Musique Concrète
Musique Concrète (French for "concrete music") is an experimental musical style that emerged in the 1940s and 1950s. It is characterized by the use of everyday sounds and noises as musical material. These sounds are then manipulated, edited, and arranged in order to create musical compositions. Musique Concrète is typically created by cutting and splicing tape recordings and then manipulating the sound through the use of filters, effects, and studio techniques. It was pioneered by French composer Pierre Schaeffer, who developed the style as part of his work at the Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française (RTF) studio in Paris. Musique Concrète has since been influential in various genres, from electronic and ambient music to hip hop and dubstep.
