Rainbow is a British rock band formed in 1975 by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, vocalist Ronnie James Dio, bassist Jimmy Bain, keyboardist Tony Carey, and drummer Cozy Powell. They have been cited as an influence on numerous hard rock, heavy metal, and progressive rock bands.

Rainbow's first three albums – 1975's Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, 1976's Rising, and 1977's Long Live Rock 'n' Roll – are considered the band's most successful albums, featuring hit singles such as "Man on the Silver Mountain", "Catch the Rainbow", "Stargazer", "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll", and "Since You Been Gone".

Rainbow's most successful and best-known song is "Since You Been Gone", written by Russ Ballard and released as a single in 1979. It was the band's only top 10 hit in the US, reaching number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the Cash Box Top 100.

An interesting fact about Rainbow is that the band's original line-up featured members of three different bands: Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple, Ronnie James Dio from Elf, and Jimmy Bain from Wild Horses.
