Richard Rodgers was an American composer and lyricist who wrote more than 900 songs and 43 Broadway musicals. He was one of the most popular composers of the 20th century, working with lyricists Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II to create some of the best-known musicals of all time.

Rodgers and Hart's best-known works include “Blue Moon,” “My Funny Valentine,” “The Lady Is a Tramp,” “Manhattan” and “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.” Rodgers and Hammerstein's musicals include “Oklahoma!,” “Carousel,” “The King and I,” “South Pacific” and “The Sound of Music.”

Notable albums include “The Sound of Music,” “Oklahoma!” and “Carousel.” Popular songs from these albums include “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning,” “If I Loved You,” “Some Enchanted Evening,” “My Favorite Things,” “Surrey With the Fringe on Top” and “Edelweiss.”

An interesting fact about Richard Rodgers is that he won an Academy Award, a Tony Award and a Pulitzer Prize. He was the first person to ever win all three awards.
