Sammy Hagar is an American rock singer, guitarist, and songwriter who rose to fame as a member of the band Van Halen. He was born on October 13, 1947, in Salinas, California. He is known for his powerful tenor voice and signature raspy singing style. Hagar has released twelve solo studio albums and is best known for his hit songs "I Can't Drive 55", "There's Only One Way to Rock", and "Red".

Hagar's most successful album was his first solo effort, Nine on a Ten Scale, released in 1976. The album featured the hit single "Red" which became a staple of his live performances and went on to become one of his signature songs. Other standout albums include Sammy Hagar (1977), Street Machine (1979), and VOA (1984).

In addition to his solo work, Hagar was the lead singer of Van Halen from 1985 to 1996 and rejoined the band in 2003 for a brief reunion tour. During his time with Van Halen, Hagar recorded four studio albums, including 5150 (1986), OU812 (1988), For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991), and Balance (1995).

Hagar has won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including four Grammy Awards, the MTV Video Music Award for Best Hard Rock Video in 1993, and the prestigious ASCAP Founders Award in 2014.
