Sir Douglas Quintet was an American rock band that was active from 1964-1999. It was founded in San Antonio, Texas and was led by singer and songwriter Doug Sahm. The band combined a mixture of rock, blues, country, folk, and Tejano music and had a unique Tex-Mex style.

Their debut album, The Return of Doug Saldaña, was released in 1965 and was followed by the critically acclaimed Mendocino in 1969. Other standout albums include Border Wave (1983), The Best of the Sir Douglas Quintet (1987), and Live from Austin TX (2006).

The band had several successful singles, including their biggest hit “She’s About a Mover”, which reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Other popular songs include “Mendocino”, “Nuevo Laredo”, and “Texas Me”.

An interesting fact about Sir Douglas Quintet is that they were the first act to ever appear on the Austin City Limits television show. They performed in 1975 and the show was so popular that it became a staple of the PBS network.
