The J. Geils Band Vinyl Records

The J. Geils Band was an American rock band, founded in 1967 in Worcester, Massachusetts, and led by guitarist John “J.” Geils. The band’s original lineup included vocalist Peter Wolf, harmonica player Richard “Magic Dick” Salwitz, drummer Stephen Jo Bladd, bassist Danny Klein and keyboardist Seth Justman. The band had a string of hits throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, including the singles “Love Stinks,” “Freeze-Frame” and “Centerfold,” all of which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The band’s best-known albums include the 1981 album Freeze-Frame, which featured the hit single “Centerfold,” and 1982’s You’re Gettin’ Even While I’m Gettin’ Odd, which included the single “Concealed Weapons.” The band’s other notable albums include 1973’s Bloodshot and 1976’s Blow Your Face Out, a live album that featured a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”

In addition to their hits, the J. Geils Band was also known for their lively live shows, which often included covers of classic blues and soul songs. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

An interesting fact about the J. Geils Band is that their name is actually a misnomer. The band was actually named after its leader and founder, John “J.” Geils.
