"Lady in Satin" marks Billie Holiday's last big hit and her penultimate album. Although some live recordings were made after this Columbia album, and she even made a second album with Ray Ellis for MGM, none of these documents were as lasting as Lady in Satin. In fact, Billie loved this album herself. Most jazz fans regard Lady in Satin as the last great achievement of Billie Holiday.The album was included in the book "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die".
