  • In May 1980 The Cure released their probably most minimalist album: Seventeen Seconds. Although at first a bit difficult to access, the hidden depths of the album reveal themselves after repeated listening. The hidden and the sometimes difficult access are the characteristics of the band's sound. At the beginning of the recordings for Seventeen Seconds The Cure exchanged their bass player. For Michael Dempsey came Simon Gallup, whose bass playing was intended to change and shape the entire atmosphere of the music. The band had found their characteristic sound, which made them world famous.
