Aaliyah was an R&B and pop singer, dancer, and actress from Detroit, Michigan who achieved international fame in the 1990s and 2000s. She began her career as a child, appearing on the TV show Star Search and releasing her debut album, Age Ain't Nothing But a Number, in 1994. Her second album, One in a Million, went double-platinum and earned her a Grammy Award nomination. Her other albums included Aaliyah (2001) and her posthumous compilation album, I Care 4 U (2002). Her most popular songs include “Are You That Somebody?” (1998), “Try Again” (2000), and “Miss You” (2001). An interesting fact about Aaliyah is that she was related to the late R&B singer R. Kelly, as her uncle was married to his mother. They collaborated on her debut album, Age Ain't Nothing But a Number, which featured the hit single “Back & Forth.”
