Abbey Lincoln Vinyl Records
Abbey Lincoln (1930-2010) was an American jazz singer and songwriter. She was also an actress, civil rights activist and poet. Throughout her career, Lincoln released a total of 22 albums, many of which were nominated for and won awards. Her most acclaimed album is Straight Ahead (1961), which is considered one of the best jazz albums of the 1960s. Other standout albums include It’s Me (1989), The World Is Falling Down (1993), and Abbey Sings Abbey (2009). Lincoln is also well known for her many hit singles, including “Throw It Away” (1960), “Down Here Below” (1962), and “Bird Alone” (1963). An interesting fact about Abbey Lincoln is that she was the inspiration for the song “Abbey Lincoln’s Monologue” by jazz trumpeter Miles Davis.
