Acid House
Acid House is a style of electronic dance music that originated in the late 1980s in the UK. It was heavily influenced by the Chicago house scene and was popularized by a series of 12" singles released by Phuture, a group of three DJs from Chicago. Acid House music is characterized by its use of a Roland TB-303 bassline synthesizer and the repetitive, hypnotic and acid-like sound it produces. The Roland TB-303 was originally intended for use as a bass guitar accompaniment for keyboard players, but was adopted by the electronic dance music scene for its unique sound. The sound of Acid House was characterized by its minimalistic, repetitive and acidic sound and is often credited with pioneering the electronic dance music genre.
