Africa 70 Vinyl Records

Africa 70 was a Nigerian music band formed in 1969 by Fela Kuti. The band's name was derived from the African state of independence and the decade in which it was formed. Africa 70 was notable for its blending of traditional African rhythms and jazz, funk, and highlife styles.

Africa 70 released some of their most successful albums during the 70s, such as Expensive Shit (1975), Zombie (1976), No Agreement (1977) and I.T.T. (1980). Some of their standout songs from this period include “Lady”, “Zombie”, “Shakara”, “Expensive Shit”, and “Sorrow, Tears and Blood”.

An interesting fact about Africa 70 is that their musical style had a significant influence on the evolution of hip-hop and rap music. Fela Kuti was sampled in many of the early hip-hop and rap songs, and his influence can still be heard in the music today.
