Al Cohn Vinyl Records

Al Cohn (1925-1988) was an American jazz saxophonist and arranger. He was a longtime collaborator with fellow saxophonist Zoot Sims, with whom he formed the "Two Tenor Team." Cohn was also a composer and arranger, and worked on numerous albums as a sideman and leader.

Cohn's best-known albums as a leader include Four Brass One Tenor (1957), The Al Cohn Quartet (1960), and Heavy Love (1960). He also recorded with many other jazz musicians, including Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, and Bob Brookmeyer. His work as an arranger was featured on albums such as Shorty Rogers and His Giants (1954) and Stan Getz & J.J. Johnson at the Opera House (1957).

Cohn's most popular songs include "Four Brass One Tenor," "Heavy Love," "Foolin' Around," and "Satin Doll."

An interesting fact about Al Cohn is that he was a master of counterpoint, and his compositions often featured multiple lines of melody played simultaneously. He was also known for his ability to improvise on a number of different instruments, including the saxophone, clarinet, and flute.
