Alan Price is an English musician, singer-songwriter, and actor. He is best known for his work with the British band The Animals, which he co-founded in 1962. He wrote and sang their number-one hit single “House of the Rising Sun”. He also wrote and sang their follow-up hits “We Gotta Get Out of This Place”, “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”, and “It’s My Life”.

Price has released many solo albums, including A Price on His Head (1966), O Lucky Man! (1973), and Between Today and Yesterday (1975). He has also released several compilation albums, such as The Best of Alan Price (1974) and The Collection (1989).

Some of Price’s standout songs include “Changes”, “Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo”, “Jarrow Song”, “Simon Smith and His Amazing Dancing Bear”, and “I Put a Spell on You”.

An interesting fact about Alan Price is that he was the first musician to appear on the long-running BBC TV show Top of the Pops. He performed the Animals' hit single “We Gotta Get Out of This Place” in 1965.
