  • Vinyl lovers have been waiting for this moment for a good 16 years: Guns N' Roses will release their best-of classic "Greatest Hits" as a 2LP for the first time on September 25, 2020. Previously only available on CD and digitally, the 2LP reissue released by Geffen / UMe now comes on 180g heavyweight vinyl (black).
The tracklist of the edition is extended by the single "Shadow Of Your Love", with which Guns N' Roses could secure themselves a place in the Top-5 of the US mainstream rock airplay charts two years ago. The band had recorded the single back in late 1986, but "Shadow Of Your Love" had remained unreleased until the boxset release of "Appetite For Destruction".

"G N' R Lies" followed already in 1988: A mix of older recordings, which they had originally released on their own two years before on the EP "Live?!*@Like A Suicide", and brand new songs - and again the album entered the US charts directly at number 2. With quintuple platinum (for five million albums sold), a Grammy nomination in the category "Best Hard Rock Performance" and the gold-plated Top 5 single "Patience", they laid the foundation for the incredible sensation that was to follow in the early nineties..

On September 17, 1991 the time had come, when half a dozen of their later "Greatest Hits" were added: The double release of the albums "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" was the sensation of the year. Part I gave the band the mega-hits "November Rain" (#3 US), "Don't Cry" (Top-10) and "Live And Let Die". Part II featured another US gold candidate with "You Could Be Mine" (also heard in "Terminator 2"), and their Dylan cover ("Knockin' On Heaven's Door"), "Yesterdays" and "Civil War" were also not to be missed on the best-of album afterwards. GN'R were so huge at this point that both parts of "Use Your Illusion" sold 7 million copies each - which meant 2x 7-times platinum in the US. (By the way, part II reached number 1, while "Use Your Illusion I" remained only number 2 in the US charts). In addition, their cover of "Live And Let Die" (Paul McCartney & Wings) was nominated for another Grammy afterwards

The most recent tracks on the "Greatest Hits" classic are from the 1993 album "The Spaghetti Incident?": Their collection of cover versions, mainly punk songs and other early influences of the band members, again went Top-5 in Germany and #4 in the U.S. The "Greatest Hits" album, now released as a 2LP, features both interpretations of "Ain't It Fun" (originally by The Dead Boys in 1978) and "Since I Don't Have You" (a doo-wop number by The Skyliners).
