This 15 song compilation is to be understood as a bow on the part of Luaka Bop (renowned world-pop label of David Byrne / Talking Heads) to the creative work of Tim MaiaTim Maia, or with full name Sebastião Rodrigues Maia saw the light of day in Rio de Janeiro on September 28, 1942He was the penultimate of 19 brothers - he composed his first songs at the age of eight. And at fourteen he formed his first band, "Os Tijucanos do Ritmo"In 1959, before his 17th birthday, his father died, and in search of distance, Tim traveled to the U.S., where he learned English and began his career as a singer - within a troupe called "The IdealsHe stayed there until 1963, when he was busted for transporting marijuana. After serving six months in prison and two more months of waiting, he was deported to BrazilHowever, the time in the U.S. ensured that Tim Maia integrated more and more soul in all future productions and used English lyricsBeing one of the leading figures of the Black Rio Movement in the 70s, the "English" songs caused confusion among Brazilian fans, but great recognition in the rest of the worldTim had many health problems. Among others, he had diabetes, acute hypertension, and obesity. During a recording for a TV show, he suddenly felt bad - and died on March 15, 1998 in Niterói at the age of 55.
