  • The fourth Arctic Monkeys album "Suck It And See" is light and airy, cinematic and yet intimate. The band recorded it at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles with their long-time producer and comrade James Ford. The album spreads a summery pop feeling and the typical Feelgood sound of Californian winter sun and vitamin D out of season, which may be due to the fact that most of the songs were recorded in January on the west coast of the USA.

Suitably to its pop orientation "Suck It And See" is more carefully arranged than its predecessor "Humbug" and is full of songs that explore the trials and tribulations of sex and love with elementary imagery, subtle lyrics and great pop culture metaphors. The album is full of references to older Rock'n'Roll classics ("you look like you've been for breakfast at the Heartbreak Hotel"), various soft drinks (Dandelion & Burdock, Postmix-Limonade) and leisure activities of the 21st century (Laserquest)

Arctic Monkeys are Jamie Cook, Matt Helders, Nick O'Malley and Alex Turner. "Suck It And See is her fourth album. It consists of twelve songs, including a reworked version of "Piledriver Waltz" from Turner's soundtrack to the Richard Ayoade film "Submarine" (also released by Domino). The first single "Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair" will be available on 27 May 2011.

"On the journey from Britpunk to Stoner Rock to Pop." (Rolling Stone June 2011)

    Delta radio "A
perfect album both for dance lovers and for those who want to lie in the sun and
listen to the music." RB 4
"How beautiful this groovy! The beat is wonderful! Earthy the rhythm and basic the riffs, but basic can be so fulfilling. No Tüdelüt, simply pure simplicity
that rocks and rolls." That thing
"From the noisy rock song to the sugar-sweet Schmachtlied is everything there. They've never been so varied
    !"
Suck lt And See" is no longer as catchy as the music of its early days and will certainly not be the CD of the year, but it sounds more summery and simpler than its predecessor "Humbug" (Stereo, August 2011)
