B.B. King (born Riley B. King) was an American blues singer, songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. He is considered one of the most influential blues musicians of all time, earning the nickname "King of the Blues." He began his career in the 1940s, recording singles and playing on the "blues circuit" throughout the Mississippi Delta. He released his debut album, Singin' the Blues, in 1956.

Throughout his career, King released dozens of albums and singles, and is credited with over 50 charting singles, many of which became blues standards. Some of his most popular albums include Singin' the Blues (1956), King of the Blues (1959), Live at the Regal (1965), Live in Cook County Jail (1971), and Deuces Wild (1997).

Some of King's most popular songs include "The Thrill Is Gone," "Everyday I Have the Blues," "Sweet Little Angel," "Why I Sing the Blues," and "You Are My Sunshine."

An interesting fact about B.B. King is that he owned and toured with "Lucille," his beloved Gibson ES-355 guitar. He named the guitar after a woman who was fighting over a man at a show in Arkansas in 1949. The ensuing fight caused a fire, and King rushed to save the guitar. To honor Lucille, King named all of his guitars Lucille.
