Bell Jar
Bell Jar is an American alternative rock band formed in New York City in 1985 by singer-songwriter and guitarist, Gordon Raphael. The band's early lineup included bassist and singer, Matthew Sweet, drummer, Fred Maher, and guitarist, Ivan Julian. They released their debut album, Emotion Is Cringing, in 1987 on Geffen Records.
Their most popular and successful album was the 1989 release, Shine, which featured the singles "Ride the Sway" and "Echo Me". The album was critically acclaimed and earned the band a Gold certification from the RIAA.
Other standout albums from the band include 1992's Chemical Imbalance and 1994's Anywhere Out of This World.
Some of the band's most popular songs include "Echo Me", "Ride the Sway", "Two Faces", "Daylight", "A Little Help from Heaven", and "Stolen".
An interesting fact about Bell Jar is that their song "Echo Me" was featured in the 1990 movie Pump Up the Volume.
