At the beginning of September Goldfrapp will release their latest album on Mute. "Tales Of Us," the band's sixth album, was written and produced by Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory and recorded in their country studio in the west of England. It took a full two years to work on this downright indulgent work - it is Goldfrapp's most narrative, cinematographic and intimate album to date.It is fair to say that none of their previous albums anticipated the beautiful lyrical expanse of their latest work. Almost without exception all pieces speak in the first person; moving character images and reflections on out-of-the-way love affairs, uncertainties, hallucinations, fairy tales and modern morality, but also moments of redemption; congealed in songs, in poetry, which lead Goldfrapp's music to a previously untrodden place.
