"The Ballad Of John Henry" is Joe Bonamassa's seventh studio album. Produced by Kevin Shirley, it was originally released on February 24, 2009 and was named after the title track. The ballad tells the story of John Henry, a railroad worker who won a competition with a newly found jackhammer, but then died of exhaustion.
The album reached number one in the US Billboard Top Blues Albums Charts and number 26 in the UK charts.
"The Ballad Of John Henry" has been remastered and pressed on two 180g brown LPs. The reissue includes the bonus track "Chains And Things", originally by B. B. King.
Reviews
"With its catchy uptempo and soulful slowsongs, strong original songs and skillful covers, such as Sam Brown's famous "Stop" or Tony Joe White's "As The Crow Flies", it's a fan favorite." (Good Times, August/September 2022)
