Black Metal

Black metal is a subgenre of extreme metal music that originated in Norway in the early 1990s. It is characterized by fast tempos, shrieking vocals, distorted guitars, and raw production. The style often incorporates demonic and occult themes, and lyrics are often written in English, German, or Norwegian. Black metal has its roots in the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The bands Venom, Mercyful Fate, and Bathory were particularly influential in the development of black metal. In the early 1990s, a Norwegian scene emerged, led by bands such as Mayhem, Burzum, and Darkthrone. The genre spread to other countries, including Sweden, Finland, and the United States, and is now a popular form of metal music worldwide.
