Cha-Cha
Cha-cha is a style of Cuban music and dance that originated in the 1950s. It is a combination of the Cuban mambo and the North American rumba. Its catchy rhythms, syncopated percussion and passionate melodies quickly became popular in ballroom dance halls around the world. Cha-cha is characterized by a 4/4 time signature with a syncopated off-beat or “chasse” accent on the third beat of every measure. The dance itself is a fast-paced, close-hold style that emphasizes the syncopated rhythms of the music.
