Charles Bradley
Charles Bradley (1948 - 2017) was an American soul and funk singer. He was born in Gainesville, Florida, and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He was signed to Daptone Records in 2002, and released his debut album No Time For Dreaming in 2011. The album was critically acclaimed and included the hit single “The World (Is Going Up In Flames)”. His follow up album, Victim of Love, was released in 2013 and included the single “Strictly Reserved for You”. His third album, Changes, was released in 2016 and featured his cover of Black Sabbath’s “Changes”. His fourth album, Black Velvet, was released in 2018, and featured his cover of Neil Young’s “Heart of Gold”.
An interesting fact about Charles Bradley is that he was homeless for much of his early career. He lived in the streets of New York for years before being discovered by Daptone Records.
