Charlie Rich was an American country music singer, songwriter and musician who is best known for his unique sound which blended country, jazz, blues, gospel and rock. He was born in Mississippi in 1932 and began his music career in 1955. He released his first album in 1958 and had several Top 40 hits throughout the 1960s and 70s. He won the Grammy Award for Best Country & Western Vocal Performance for the song “Behind Closed Doors” in 1974.

Rich’s most popular albums include Behind Closed Doors (1973), Pictures and Paintings (1974), Every Time You Touch Me (1975) and Silver Fox (1976). His standout songs include “Behind Closed Doors”, “The Most Beautiful Girl”, “A Very Special Love Song”, “Rollin' with the Flow” and “Midnight Blues”.

An interesting fact about Charlie Rich is that he was the first artist to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame while still alive. He was inducted in 1995, just two years before his death in 1997.
